The Rita Collective with Ben Proctor

Share an evening of creative music inspired by the history of the banjo with the Rita Collective and special guest Ben Proctor of The Crooked North.
All ages, $10, RSVP on Facebook

The banjo is a fascinating instrument that played various roles throughout the history of music. Its origins can be traced back to sub-Saharan cultures of the 13th century, and it appeared in the traditional folk music of many African cultures. It eventually traveled with the slave trade to North America, becoming an iconic bluegrass instrument and even making some forays into the world of jazz. Join The Rita Collective, with special guest banjo performer Ben Proctor, as we explore music from the far corners of the world that includes this storied instrument.
